A time traveller gives the slaves hope for freedom

Black History TimelineChapter 4: Granny conjures powerful magic to change slavery

The two most prominent slaves that Granny met were named Drake and Big Daddy Ram. Both were dark, large men, tall with wide shoulders. Ram was a bit bigger, and had a beard. Drake lacked any facial hair, and had sharper eyes. He was the more conniving and possibly cruel of the two, though Ram was sure as hell no push over. They both listened thoughtfully to Granny’s talk over dinner, thinking on each and every word she said. Their acceptance of her stories of the future with a black president persuaded the other slaves almost as much as the photographic evidence.

Then, Granny got to the part about her plan for Drake, and the two large men really started to listen. They leaned in close as Granny spoke. Drake of course, being a vampire, had the special moonlight ring and cane from Granny, allowing him to be outside in direct sunlight. He held a powerful presence over the others, who thought him blessed or cursed, or at least in some way divinely chosen for a great purpose. Granny confirmed such thinking when she explained the basics of her plan for Drake and for her people:

“You, Drake. Yes, I know your name well. You will play the most important part in things to come, and I say that boldly now for everyone to hear!”
